Miss Manila celebrates ‘Women of Worth’

Miss Manila is making a grand comeback this year with 20 Manileñas competing for the crown and proving themselves as “Women of Worth.”

Over 50 beautiful women underwent screening to be part of this year's edition. Still, only 20 candidates received their official sashes from Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and the city's Director of Tourism Culture and Arts, Charlie Dungo, on May 15 at the Bulwagang Villegas of the Manila City Hall, signifying they are through to the pageant.

Delegates come from Intramuros, Ugbo Tondo, Otis Pandacan, Zamora Pandacan, Sampaloc, Sta. Mesa, Don Bosco Tondo, Blumentritt, Malate, Punta Sta. Ana, Paco, Pureza Sta. Mesa, Maceda Sampaloc, Padre Faura, Pandacan, Roxas Boulevard, Sta. Cruz, Tayuman, Balut Tondo and Baseco Port Area.

Miss Manila 2023's organizers say the battle for the prestigious title will not be easy for this batch of delegates as they will undergo rigorious pre-pageant activities such as masterclasses in Pasarela under Rodgil Flores, founder of the pageant camp Kagandahang Flores; Make Up with celebrity make-up artist Lala Flores; and third in Question and Answer.

The grand coronation night will take place on the eve of Manila City Day on June 23, 7 p.m. at the newly restored Metropolitan Theater.

The local pageant will be hosted by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, with a special performance from Power Diva and proud Manileña Angeline Quinto, who sang the Miss Manila theme song. Rapper Kritiko and Filipino violinist Jo Bry Cimafranca will also provide entertainment.

The battle for the prestigious title will not be easy for this batch of delegates as they will undergo rigorous pre-pageant activities.

Miss Manila is presented by the City of Manila, Department of Tourism, Culture, and the Arts of Manila, Kreativden Entertainment, and co-presented by the Philippine Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and San Miguel Corporation.

Minor sponsors include SM, Arca, and partnerships with Jag, EW Villa Medica Manila, Metrophoto, Metropolitan Theater, and the Rizal Park Hotel.

Miss Manila: Woman of Worth is sure to find a Manileña who embodies the values of empowerment and leadership and, in so doing, make a meaningful contribution to her fellow Manilans.
