Odes to joy

Melissa’s latest campaign, “Joyscapes,” is an ode to the happiness you feel when you’re wearing your favorite pair of shoes.

“You visualize a special memory when you smell our bubblegum-scented pairs — it brings you back to your childhood,” says Melissa Philippines marketing manager Joy Dauz. “When you wear it, you feel happy and empowered, like you can take on anything. Our hope is to be able to spread the power of optimism and hope through our brand, from trendy ballerinas to our head-turning, sky-high platform heels.”

There’s definitely something for everyone in Joyscapes. I immediately resonated with the espadrilles, which resemble the Mary Janes I used to wear in high school.

For each collection Melissa features exciting collabs, and this season it’s with two fashion designers. Hikaru Matsumura is known for his work with Issey Miyake, not only in the Paris collection; he’s the chief designer of Miyake’s iconic Pleats Please line.

For Melissa he’s designed the reversible Melissa Mogu Bag + 52, which blends playful sophistication with structure and modular patterns, creating visually captivating and sensory-stimulating bags available in four colorways: yellow, white, black, and pink.

This season also marks the first time Melissa is collaborating with Telfar, a Black-owned, genderless fashion label founded in 2004 by Telfar Clemens in New York City.

In December, Melissa Philippines is bringing in the Telly Jelly collection, a fully transparent take on Telfar’s ubiquitous shopping bags, which come in small, medium, and large sizes in white, black, brown, and pink.

In addition, the bags are accompanied by genderless, unisex slides showcasing fluid lines and tubular construction, molded using Melissa’s exclusive and sustainable Melflex material.

Both the bags and slides are eye-catching and futuristic while still being comfy and wearable.

With their growing, stylish bag selections, Melissa is much more than a Brazilian footwear brand. Now they have accessories for all your fashion needs.
