ILOILO CITY – Markets in this city are going cashless.
This was after the Iloilo City government launched Paleng-QR PH Plus, the cashless payment scheme implemented by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), at the Iloilo Terminal Market on Thursday, November 23.

“I am very thankful because of this program, our market-goers and vendors will have easier access when it comes to their payment. We will continue to prosper in Iloilo City,” said Mayor Jerry Treñas.
The Paleng-QR PH Plus will be implemented not just in public markets in this city but also in local transportation, including tricycles.
“This is a milestone in making the city of love more digitalized and financially inclusive,” said BSP Deputy Gov. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
With the cashless transaction, Puyat said it is convenient as well as prevents spread of fake money.
Last April, the Iloilo City Council passed an ordinance that adopted Paleng-QR PH Plus for implementation here.
