Ponce Veridiano’s art blooms

Self-taught landscape artist Ponce Veridiano started as an electrical engineer and segued into a very in-demand landscape artist with a long list of exclusive clients. Adding another feather to his artistic cap was his recent first solo exhibit at the W/17 home store showcasing his versatility and prowess with various artworks on display encompassing different themes — from the feminine geisha’s nape in a colorful silken kimono to dramatic black and white figures, as well as bold, contemporary strokes that conveyed various emotions.

Proud that his paintings are “not by the book,” since he has always been drawn to art and loved the creative process with inspirations and ideas flowing from his productive mind, Ponce explained, “My continuous inspiration lies within self-discovery — from improving and experimenting — one painting at a time. It is another outlet where I can express my creativity, to be enjoyed by all.”

Even before the cocktail reception started, many of his artworks were either marked “reserved” or “sold” with a number of early birds dropping by to make sure they got first dibs on Ponce’s art, which filled up two large floors of the spacious display area. Ponce’s debut exhibit is a testament to his versatility and artistic prowess.

The collaboration with W/17 continues the store’s legacy of supporting local artists and artisans, a seamless blend of artistic expression and aesthetic appeal. As the store’s cofounder Kaye Tinga enthused, “Ponce is the epitome of a true visual artist, anyone who has ever seen one of his projects as a landscape artist will see his creative genius and vision — it is distinct, powerful, and unforgettable, and these same elements can be seen in his paintings. And his long experience working with nature is clearly reflected in his work.”
