Tilapia prices slightly increase—DA

Prices of tilapia have slightly increased ahead of the holiday season, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said.

Agriculture Spokesperson Arnel de Mesa disclosed on Monday, Dec. 11, that the price of the commodity went up from P140 to P145 this week.

“Yung tilapia bahagyang tumaas ng limang piso from P140 to P145 (The price of Tilapia slightly increased by P5 from P140 to P145),” de Mesa said in a televised interview.

Prices of other agricultural commodities, aside from vegetables, either went down or did not move based on the latest monitoring.

“At yung ibang gulay pero bukod dito lahat ng agricultural commodities ay kung hindi bumaba ay na-maintain yung presyo noong mga nakalipas na araw at nakalipas na linggo (Other vegetables went up but aside from this all agricultural commodities either went down or maintained their prices in the past days and weeks),” de Mesa said.

The DA Assistant Secretary also noted that prices of eggs slightly decreased from P8 to P7.50 per piece while rice prices went down from P52 to P51 per kilo.

De Mesa further said that many agricultural commodities have stable prices while others are within the price range monitored in the previous month and weeks.
