The University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) on Tuesday, Dec. 12, announced the shift to online classes due to the transport strike scheduled for later this week.
The Pagkakaisa ng Samahan ng Mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (PISTON) announced another transport strike on Dec. 14 and 15.
However, UPD said the the faculty members can consult their students if they choose to conduct scheduled activities face-to-face with “appropriate consideration” to students to complete the semester.
“Appropriate consideration should be given to students who reside far from campus and those who might encounter difficulties commuting using public transportation,” UPD said.
Meanwhile, the UPD heads and personnel affected by the transport strike may also work from their homes, while a minimum number of on-site personnel are allowed to conduct expected in-person transactions.
Moreover, the UP Health Service, UPD Police, Public Safety and Security Office, Special Services Brigade, and Campus Maintenance Office were required to report for on-site work.
