Watsons affirms position as men’s partner in everyday grooming

FATHERS, husbands, boyfriends, and brothers no longer need to stay outside while their wives, girlfriends, daughters, and sisters shop for health, wellness and beauty essentials at Watsons, as the retailer launched the HIM-tayan Club. With this, men can go in and shop for their essentials as well.

Zyra Tinio-Obias, group category manager for personal care at Watsons Philippines, said Watsons became viral on social media when photos of men waiting outside their stores were shared online. But the executive assured, the weeping game is over for men.

“Watsons is here to welcome all of our gentlemen into our stores and to showcase our different brands. We are a destination for men's grooming and essentials,” Tinio-Obias said.

“Watsons is your partner in your everyday grooming as we have a fantastic range of health, wellness, and grooming essentials coming from our beloved partners,” she added.

With the newly launched HIM-tayan Club, male customers can be pampered and enjoy their own Watsons experience. Apart from special deals and discounts, there's a complimentary coffee, Wi-Fi and even a massage chair from Ogawa for them to enjoy.

“We launched it to highlight our men's grooming assortment and to invite our men shoppers or those who are weeping outside of Watsons to go into our store,” Tinio-Obias continued.

“We want them to enjoy their shopping experience inside the store because we do have a lot of choices to make them look better.”

As the launch coincided with Father's Day, male shoppers got discounts from Unilever, Old Spice, STR8 and Nivea.

There were also promo offers on Old Spice WC Invisible Solid Bearglove, Nivea Men Xtra Bright Foam, Gillette Mach3 Turbo 3DMotion Razor, Rexona Men Charcoal Detox, and STR8 Eau de Toilette Red Code.

Watsons also had a stylist for grooming.

“So, that is a service we plan to have across our different stores all throughout the year,” Tinio-Obias noted, adding hair coloring booths are also available in select stores.

The HIM-tayan Club started first in SM North Edsa, and Watsons will be announcing its future roll out soon.
