Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri sounds very impressed with the way House Speaker Martin Romualdez tunes out all the political noise in order to keep on carrying out his duties.

This was evident after Zubiri vouched for Romualdez’s unshakeable work ethic during a press conference Thursday, Nov. 23 at the start of the 31st Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

“I’ll speak for the Speaker, he’s a very nice guy. The Speaker is focused on his work,” the Senate chief said of his House counterpart.

“He told me earlier, ‘Let’s not talk about politics Migz, don’t worry about that. I don’t let it bother me I’ll just focus on my work,'” Zubiri shared to reporters covering the APPF.

“So we appreciate that with the Speaker of the House of Representatives,” the Mindanaoan senator further said of Romualdez, who represents Leyte in the lower chamber.

Earlier in the presser, Romualdez was asked to comment on allegations that he had been attempting to east out Vice President Sara Duterte from the 2028 presidential race.

The Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) president had earlier said that he was focused on his current job and had no political plans at the moment.
