The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, Nov. 22 that 20 areas in the country may experience dry spell or “below-normal” rainfall conditions for three consecutive months.
PAGASA’s Climatology and Agrometeorology Division-Climate Monitoring and Prediction Section Senior Weather Specialist Rusy Abustillas said parts of Northern and Central Luzon, Misamis Occidental, and Tawi-Tawi will have “below-normal” rainfall between December 2023 and March 2024.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Abra, Ilocos Norte, Bataan, Zambales, and Occidental Mindoro may have dry condition due to “below-normal” rainfall for two consecutive months.
PAGASA also noted that Batangas, Cavite, and Oriental Mindoro may experience drought or “below-normal” rainfall for five consecutive months.
Moreover, PAGASA projected “way-below to below-normal” rainfall across most of the country from January to March 2024.
