Biazon receives Muntinlupa’s climate action award in South Korea

“Muntinlupa, Nakakaproud!”

This was what Mayor Ruffy Biazon said as he received Muntinlupa’s City Climate Action Award for its Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program in South Korea.

The award was given to Biazon at the 2nd CityNet-Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (CityNet-ESCAP) SDG City Awards in Suwon City, South Korea.

He said the awards recognized cities which have outstanding programs on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), “which serve as the United Nation’s framework for development of countries.”

Biazon said his own 7K Agenda was based on SDGs to map out programs implemented in Muntinlupa.

“Shoutout sa lahat ng kasamahan natin sa Pamahalaang Lungsod, the Energy Sector Committee, sa mga empleyado at sa buong Muntinlupa community. This award is for you and because of you!” added the mayor.

Biazon is in Suwon for the 43rd Executive Committee Meeting of CityNet together with Deputy City Administrator RJ Smith, and Public Information Office officer-in-charge Noemi Gonzales.

CityNet earlier announced that Muntinlupa bagged the City Climate Action Award for its “Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program.”

“The City of Government of Muntinlupa pioneered the institutionalization of Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) among local government units in the Philippines by enacting its Local Energy Code and developing a Local Energy Efficiency and Conservation Plan. Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program aims to reduce electricity and fuel consumption of the City through the use of energy efficient technologies, practice of energy conservation measures, and tapping on renewable energy,” according to the Urban SDG Knowledge Platform.
