‘BlackBerry’ and ‘The Zone of Interest’ win big at Toronto film critics awards

Stars lit up the Omni King Edward Hotel on March 4 as the Toronto Film Critics Association presented its 27th annual awards. The gala, hosted by Amanda Brugel of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” honoured the actors, directors and producers behind 2023’s best movies. Among the guests were such homegrown talents as Tantoo Cardinal, Don McKellar and Rick Mercer. Jay Baruchel and Matthew Johnson of “BlackBerry” were on hand to collect the prize for Rogers Best Canadian Film, while the Holocaust drama “The Zone of Interest” took the Best Picture and Best Director awards.
