‘Bubble Gang’ off to crack up Sundays

GMA Network's acclaimed and long-running comedy show, “Bubble Gang,” is set to provide viewers with fresher, grander and more thrilling entertainment as it moves to a new time slot. Starting July 9, the show will air every Sunday at 6 p.m.

For over 27 years, “Bubble Gang” has brought joy to Filipinos with its hilarious comedy skits and sketches. Its unwavering commitment to delivering new content and nurturing a new generation of comedians has earned the show a formidable presence in Philippine television.

The ‘Bubble Gang’ cast includes Chariz Solomon, Anna Barro, Chesca Fausto, director Frasco Mortiz, Michael V., Paolo Contis, Kokoy De Santos, Buboy Villar and Betong Sumaya.

The show is headlined by Michael V., the original member and creative genius behind some of its the program's iconic characters and sketches.

“Bubble Gang used to air on Friday nights, now it's Sundays, and at 6 p.m. Our time slot is more wholesome. It caters to a wider audience, so we have to be mindful of the content we create for our viewers,” said the main man at the media conference for the new timeslot.

Joining Michael V. for the move are a mix of “Bubble Gang” OJs and newbies but all a fun and multi-talented bunch. They are Paolo Contis, Chariz Solomon, Betong Sumaya, Kokoy De Santos, Edgar Allan Guzman, Buboy Villar, Ana Barro and Chesca Fausto.

Michael V added that viewers can also look forward to two special guests joining the gang every Sunday, as well as exciting cameos from various celebrities.

In the July 9 episode, popular vloggers Mika Salamanca and Jelai Andres will surprise viewers with their comedic skills as program guests.

When asked who else he would love to guest on “Bubble Gang,” Michael V. firmly responded, “Vice Ganda. Vice Ganda has always been open to collaboration.

“The last time we met and talked, he always said, 'I hope I can guest on Bubble Gang,'” eagerly shared Michael V.

In fact, he already has a skit in mind for his fellow comedian, one with his popular alter ego, “Mr. Assimo.” And with Vice's noontime program “It's Showtime” now airing on GMA's subsidiary channel, GTV, it looks like Michael V's dream will soon come true.

Besides having a new time slot, “Bubble Gang” will elevate its comedic prowess by performing in front of a live audience from Sunday onwards and will surely feed off real-time reactions to constantly improve and update its content.

As such, show director Frasco Mortiz guarantees viewers more lively skits, organic performances and engaging segments designed to entertain both the studio and TV viewers, and again in real-time. He clarifies, however, that short taped materials will still be aired, like spoofs, sketches, parodies and redubs.

Just as excited as Michael V and the cast for the relaunch, Fransco concluded, “I believe what audiences can look forward to in the relaunch of 'Bubble Gang' is the different energy that the artists will bring because of a live audience involved. When we taped the first two episodes, it was really obvious. Everyone was on their toes because actual people were watching and not just the usual production setup.”

With its new timeslot, “Bubble Gang” strives to remain relevant by tackling engaging topics that resonate with a broader audience. The show's unique humor will always be there, of course, ensuring loyal fans of their weekly dose of fun and hilarity, which the gag show has long been known for.

Don't miss the bigger and better “Bubble Gang” season as it premieres this Sunday on GMA Network.
