Fewer crimes logged in Western Visayas on Dec. 24-25

ILOILO CITY – Police logged fewer crimes on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Western Visayas.

The Police Regional Office-6 said 36 criminal incidents were recorded on December 24 and 25, down 67.4 percent compared to the same period last year with 85.

Six frustrated homicide cases were recorded, four for violation of Republic Act No. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, three rape, three illegal gambling, two murder, attempted homicide, physical injury, theft, and alarm and scandal incidents each, and one homicide, frustrated murder, possession of deadly weapon, child abuse, malicious mischief, threat, concubinage, and illegal drugs each.

The Negros Police Provincial Office recorded the highest number of criminal incidents from December 24 to 25 with 16.

Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, PRO-6 director, thanked the police for making Christmas peaceful in Region 6.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa mga kapulisan na nagsakripisyo at dedikasyon sa trabaho para tayo ay magkaroon ng payapang Christmas celebration, at lalo na sa ating mamamayan na buo ang kooperasyon at suporta sa amin,” Villaflor said.
