Former Manila vice mayor Danilo Lacuna dies

FORMER Manila vice mayor Danilo Lacuna has died, his daughter Mayor Honey Lacuna confirmed Sunday.

In a social media post, the younger Lacuna said her father “joined his creator” early Sunday, August 13, “surrounded by his loved ones.”

“A man of great service and compassion, Danny touched many, creating a life that spans further than just his years and into the hearts of us all where he will remain forever,” the post read.

Details of the former politician's wake and interment will be released later.

Danilo Bautista Lacuna served as city councilor in 1968 and became the capital's vice mayor in 1970 to 1971, 1988 to 1992, and in 1998 to 2007.

He also founded the local political party Asenso Manileño, which produced former Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and incumbent Mayor Honey Lacuna.

He is survived by his wife Melanie “Inday” Lacuna and five children, Honey, Lei, Dennis, Liza and Philip.
