‘Goring’ maintains strength, Aurora town placed under Signal No. 3

A municipality in Aurora has also been placed under Signal No. 3 as Super Typhoon Goring maintained its strength while moving eastward over the Philippine Sea, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 p.m. bulletin Sunday.

Signal No. 3 was raised over the eastern portion of Isabela (Divilacan, Palanan and Dinapigue) and the extreme northern portion of Aurora (Dilasag).

Signal No. 2, meanwhile, is up over the eastern portion of mainland Cagayan (Peñablanca, Baggao, Gattaran, Lal-Lo, Gonzaga, Santa Teresita, Buguey, Santa Ana, Enrile and Tuguegarao City), the central portion of Isabela (Maconacon, Cabagan, Tumauini, San Pablo, Benito Soliven, San Guillermo, Jones, Echague, San Agustin, Angadanan, City of Cauayan, Naguilian, Gamu, Santa Maria, Santo Tomas, Delfin Albano, Quirino, Burgos, Reina Mercedes, Alicia, Luna, Quezon, Mallig, Roxas, San Manuel, Aurora, Cabatuan, San Mateo, San Isidro, San Mariano and Ilagan City), the northern portion of Aurora (Casiguran and Dinalungan), and the eastern portion of Quirino (Maddela).

Batanes, the rest of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, the rest of Aurora, the rest of Quirino, the rest of Isabela, Apayao, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Kalinga, Abra, eastern portion of Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud, Adams, Vintar, Carasi, Nueva Era, Banna, Marcos, Dingras, Solsona, Piddig, Dumalneg and Bangui), Pollilo Islands, eastern portion of Benguet (Bokod, Buguias, Kabaya an, Mankayan), eastern portion of Nueva Ecija (Carranglan, Pantabangan, Bongabon, Gabaldon, Laur and Rizal) and Calaguas Islands remain under Signal No. 1, Pagasa said.

Estimated some 95 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, the super typhoon is moving south-southeast slowly while packing maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph, Pagasa said.

In the next three days, “Goring” will enhance the southwest monsoon and bring occasional or monsoon rains in the western portions of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon and Visayas.
