Tan, who has just announced his resignation from the SBMA, took his oath as DILG undersecretary before President Marcos in Malacañan on Friday, Jan. 12.

Tan quit his post eight months after he was appointed to lead the SBMA.

While he did not elaborate on his reason for resigning, Tan described his short stint as short but valuable.

He replaced Rolen Paulino as SBMA Chairman. Paulino resigned on April 15 last year to give President Marcos a “free hand to choose” who he deemed best to steer the SBMA and the Subic Bay Freeport Zone to “greater heights.”

Tan is the former mayor of Pandan town in Antique province from 2010 to 2019.

He served as President of the League of Municipalities (LMP) of the Philippines-Antique and was elected as PRO of LMP-National from 2013 to 2016.
