After her wedding to British scientist-producer Monty Blencowe in England last August, Lovi Poe is now back in Manila to resume her showbiz commitments. In a stunning black outfit, Lovi was excited to meet the entertainment press for the first time after her marriage.

“The adjustment is still long-distance. I’m still here pa rin, and I went straight to work. The week after the wedding dumeretso na ako rito and straight to taping,” said Lovi during a press conference organized by IMONO Jewelry in Quezon City recently.

Lovi is currently filming for the popular Kapamilya series “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” as Mokang, the long-time love of Tanggol (Coco Martin). In December, she plans to spend the holidays abroad with Monty. The 34-year-old actress feels fortunate to have a husband who understands and supports her career.

“Monty and I need to talk about that. Right now, I’m just so happy that he’s very understanding. And when I’m filming, it’s me that I’m always traveling. So we’re taking it positively, and he wants me to shine and succeed. Sobrang suwerte ko na ganun siya. We’re on the next level or next stage. But he still wants me to shine,” said Lovi when asked about plans to settle abroad.

On having a baby, Lovi said: “Wala pa siya sa plans namin. So far we just want to focus sa work and being together. Yun muna.” (Having a baby is not in our plans yet. So far, we want to focus on work and being together.)

Lovi also said they still need to figure out where they will go on their honeymoon. “Wala pa. Please let me know if you guys have any suggestions for locations.”

At the same media conference, Lovi talked about her preparations for the wedding. The actress and Montty scouted several European countries for their wedding venue. But one of the most touching highlights of the wedding was the attendance of her stepsister, Senator Grace Poe. Lovi admitted she got emotional the moment her “ate” spoke during the reception.

“That was a special moment for me. Kung pwede ko lang balikan yung moment na yun for me and for Monty. Naiyak talaga ako kay Ate Grace. I didn’t want to bug her and say anything, but she’s such a wonderful human being, and I cannot express my love for her. It was a magical moment, especially when she started speaking there. Monty’s side was amazed at Ate Grace kasi nakita nila about what kind of person she is. She’s a strong and intelligent woman. Sabi ko, ‘That’s my ate.’ It was such a great moment that she was there,” Lovi recalled.

Lovi and Monty crossed paths in Los Angeles in 2019. The celebrities have been dating since then. On Aug. 8, Lovi announced her engagement to Monty on social media. Although Lovi couldn’t remember the exact date, she admitted that she and Monty had been engaged for several months before she made the announcement.

When asked about the moment she realized Monty was the one for her, Lovi answered: “It’s so cheesy, but that was when I met him for the first time. I am trying to understand what he was saying. You’ll know. Naramdaman ko lang siya, and at first, I didn’t want to assume. Kasi nga he’s living in L.A. and andito ako sa Manila. Hindi ko talaga ineexpect na magiging kami, but if you really want something to work, you will find a way to make it work. Long-distance relationships are so difficult. But then it’s great if it works out.”

The daughter of the late Action King Fernando Poe Jr. stated that there are no plans for another wedding in the Philippines.

“We want to keep muna the wedding in the UK as our wedding. We have no plans to marry in the Philippines because we still need to discuss that. But hopefully, we get to celebrate (our marriage) with our loved ones, especially the ones on my side. Even a small celebration with our loved ones.”

Despite her change in civil status, Lovi said there are no restrictions on her career. “One thing na natutunan ko as an actress is to portray different characters. Yun naman ang trabaho naman natin bilang actors but of course some people choose to do the same kinds of role, and characters. As you can see, I want to do roles that are out of the box and crazy and unconventional. I want to do something new.”

She revealed that her husband is trying to learn to speak Tagalog. But what many people do not know is that Monty is a scientist. Lovi said she is touched by her husband’s gesture whenever she asks her to read his research papers.

“I just read the research papers kahit hindi ko talaga naintindihan,” Lovi laughed. “But you know, I am simply touched by that gesture.”

Goldy Hing, owner of IMONO Jewelry, welcomed Lovi during the press event. Lovi expressed her gratitude for being a part of the Imono family for several years.

“It’s not always the tag price but the beauty of how you carry it. IMONO is still something I’m proud to wear. I’m grateful to be part of the IMONO family,” said Lovi about her endorsement.

When asked about the affordability of IMONO Jewelry, Valerie said: “It’s an aspirational brand, and we want to make it affordable for everyone by providing beautiful and quality jewels. It is also made up of stainless steel, and it’s hypoallergenic.

Lovi added: “Even if I’m sweating hindi ako nagkakaroon ng allergic reaction.”
