This signifies a “50 percent increase” compared to the preceding week, from Dec. 5 to 11, with an average daily count of 389 cases, the DOH said.

Among the newly reported cases, 16 have been classified as “severe” or “critical.”

Meanwhile, the Health department said that there have been 16 deaths, 13 of which occurred between Dec. 5 and 18.

The DOH noted that hospitals across the country have admitted a total of 211 severe and critical Covid-19 patients for treatment.

Of the 1,101 ICU beds allocated for Covid-19 patients, 142, or 12.9 percent, are currently occupied.

Additionally, 1,841 out of 10,045 non-ICU Covid-19 beds, constituting 18.3 percent, are in use.

Concerning this, the DOH urged the public to remain vigilant in light of the ongoing Covid-19 threat, emphasizing the importance of adhering to public health standards.

This includes wearing masks, seeking well-ventilated areas, and immediate isolation if symptomatic under Alert Level 1.

Moreover, the DOH reported that approximately 78 million people in the country have received Covid-19 vaccinations, surpassing the target population by 100.44 percent.
