What makes Netflix’s ‘Seasons’ extra special for Lovi Poe

Lovi Poe may no longer be a new comer in show business, but the sought after actress still has a number of things to tick off her career wishlist — two of which she just did in her new movie “Seasons.”

Now streaming on Netflix, Seasons follows Poe's character Charlie and her best friend Kurt (played by Carlo Aquino), who may or may not fall in love with each other romantically.

Poe came up with the idea and worked with screenwriter Dwein Baltazar who fleshed out the story.

The actress is also grateful for the opportunity to work with Carlo Aquino, the actor she grew up watching.

“I told her about stories that I wanted to inject in this film and I was just so happy it was executed beautifully because it's exactly how I imagined it to be. It's my dream to one day, write my own script but I'm just happy that the concept that I wanted was brought to life and it's now here on Netflix” Poe said at a media roundtable for the film.

Poe's intent for the story is to show how different people who come into one's life do so in categories of “season, reason and a lifetime.”

“There are some people you meet and be with for a season only. Then, there are people that you meet for a reason and I feel like they will be the ones to teach you lessons about life. Eventually, if you get lucky, you will get to meet your lifetime.”

Lovi Poe stars in ‘Seasons,’ the film she conceptualized.

For Poe, keeping this mindset should ultimately help people better determine their relationships — be it romantic or platonic — and hopefully lessen heartbreaks and disappointments.

“I think it's important to know the gravity of your relationship and how much you loved each other. If that person comes into your life only for a season, a reason, or a lifetime. When you figure it out, then it'll be a lot easier to move on.”

Working with Carlo

The actress is also grateful for the opportunity to work with Carlo Aquino, the actor she grew up watching.

Another dream come true for Poe is working with actor Carlo Aquino for the first time.

“I used to watch 'G-mik' [the '90s youth-oriented show] so I was so intimidated to be doing scenes with Carlo — I couldn't memorize my lines,” Poe gushed when asked how it was working with her leading man.

Lovi Poe is thrilled to star in a love story she conceptualized herself.

“I was so intimidated because finally the person I so wanted to work with, a really great actor at that too, and one I would watch when I was growing up, is the same actor I am now doing scenes with. You could just imagine the jitters I had,” she continued.

Poe had nothing but praise for Aquino who helped quickly made her feel at ease with him.

“I think that's what's nice about someone who has been in the industry for a longer time is they know how to make you comfortable, plus he's very friendly.”

She divulged that no matter how stressed she would be while they were shooting the film, Aquino would effortlessly carry the scene and make sure Poe would be at her best to deliver what was needed.

“You need that kind of feeling together as co-stars, especially for us since we're playing best friends Charlie and Kurt. We need to show that closeness and I'm happy that he made me that comfortable,” Poe finally noted.

Directed by Easy Ferrer, Seasons is now streaming on Netflix.
