Sundance toast, ‘Past Lives,’ screens across PH

Moviegoers in the Philippines will finally have the chance to experience “Past Lives,” the international romance film that captured the hearts of audiences and critics worldwide.”Past Lives” is a heartrending modern romance that follows the story of two deeply connected childhood friends who drift apart. Two decades later, they are reunited in New York for one fateful week as they grapple with questions of fate, love, and the choices that shape a life.

With a captivating script and stunning visuals, the movie has been hailed as one of the best films of the year. “Past Lives” has received glowing reviews from critics and audiences alike, with many calling it one of the best romantic dramas in recent memory. Rotten Tomatoes gave the film an approval rating of 98 percent based on over 200 reviews and an audience score of 94 percent.

“Past Lives” is the directorial debut of writer-director Celine Song and Korean stars Greta Lee, Teo Yoo, and John Magaro. It is produced by A24, an American independent entertainment company, and exclusively distributed in the Philippines by TBA Studios.

This marks the third acquisition and distribution partnership between TBA Studios and A24 following the successful Philippine release of the multi-awarded films “Everything Everywhere All At Once” and “The Whale.”

“We are incredibly excited to bring 'Past Lives' to the Philippines,” said TBA Studios President and COO Daphne Chiu on Wednesday's press preview. “This film is a hauntingly beautiful masterpiece, and we are confident it will leave a lasting impression on everyone who sees it.”

The film, which premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, is currently showing in over a hundred theaters nationwide.
